2 DAY Hands-On "Doctor to Doctor" and Team Implementation Training
Course Description: “K7x Occlusal Evaluation and Bite Registration Training”
Prerequisite Course: Ownership of a K7/K7x System
AGD Subject Code: 180 Myofacial Pain/Occlusion, 010 Basic Sciences, 200 Orofacial Pain, 250 Operative (Restorative) Dentistry
Course Overview
This immersive, hands-on training introduces clinicians and their teams to the K7x Occlusal Evaluation System and J5 Dental TENS instrumentation, following OC’s proprietary GNM protocols. Participants will learn how to record and interpret objective electro-diagnostic data—EMG, CMS, ESG—and master the Optimized Scan 4/5 Bite Registration technique, a cornerstone of physiologic occlusion.
Who Should Attend
• Dentists who own a K7/K7x system
• Teams seeking to integrate GNM protocols into daily practice
• Clinicians performing restorative, TMD, or orthodontic procedures
• Anyone ready to move beyond classical NM into the next level of mastery
Why This Course Matters
GNM is not a variation of NM—it is a clinical evolution.
Rooted in objective, measured science, GNM redefines how bite registration is understood and applied. Without a precise, six-dimensional optimized bite, treatment outcomes in restorative, TMD, and orthodontic care risk instability and relapse.
"OC is where clinicians come to advance their K7x learning to become experts and master the K7x and J5 Dental TENS CLINICALLY at the next level".
Course Objectives:
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the foundational principles of GNM Dentistry, including the rationale for physiologic occlusion and objective instrumentation in comprehensive treatment planning.
- Master the use of K7x diagnostic instrumentation, including how to accurately record and interpret:
- EMG (electromyography) for muscle activity
- CMS (computerized mandibular scanning) for jaw movement
- ESG (electrosonography) for TM joint sound analysis
- Perform precise duotrode placement to ensure reliable diagnostic EMG recordings.
- Apply proper myotrode placement for effective therapeutic use of J5 Dental TENS.
- Interpret basic scan data clinically, including habitual rest, post-TENS, clench EMGs, and jaw tracking cycles.
- Record and identify a Classic Scan 4/5 Bite, understanding its diagnostic role and limitations.
- Learn how to record and identify an Optimized Bite, placing the myocentric target optimally with precision for restorative, TMD, and orthodontic applications.
- Differentiate between bite registration techniques, understanding the clinical implications of trajectory, vertical dimension, and frontal tracking importance.
- Integrate GNM protocols into team workflows, fostering unity and confidence in auxiliary data collection and scan interpretation.
- Implement practice management strategies that position the K7x system as a profit center—supporting a low-volume, high-product.
You Will Learn:
Instrumentation Mastery
- All EMG for 8 and 4-channel muscle activity recordings (resting, post-TENS, clench)
- All CMS: Jaw tracking for range of motion, chewing, and closure cycles
- ESG: Scan 15 joint sound recording for TMJ evaluation
- Duotrode placement and lead connection accuracy for both the A (TMJ) and B (cervical) groups.
- Myotrode placement for diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy
- Proper use of J5 Dental TENS for for effective muscle relaxation and bite registration
- Classic Scan 4/5 Bite vs. Optimized Bite as per Dr. Chan's technique, interpretation, and clinical implications
- Identifying first tooth contact (Scan 12) and its diagnostic significance
- Determining optimal vertical dimension and myocentric trajectory
- Introduction to frontal jaw tracking and its clinical relevance
- How to correlate scan data with musculoskeletal symptoms
- Creating a physiologic rationale for treatment planning
- Understanding the GNM paradigm vs. classical NM and mechanical techniques
- Training auxiliaries to flag occlusal signs and symptoms
- Data collection protocols for consistent scan quality
- Practice management strategies to make K7x a profit center
- Building a low-volume, high-productivity model independent of insurance constraints

"The course was very helpful in helping me to understand the purpose of re-positioning the jaw and symptoms to look for in patients. Dr. Chan presented the K7 materials well. What I enjoyed the most was the hands on interaction with my office as well as with the other class participants. The teaching facility was lovely and Dr. and Mrs. Chan were very personable, displayed hospitality and very knowledgeable in the K7. It was a Great Course". - Jasi Am A. "Having worked with the K6 in previous years, Learning to understand the information of the K7 is able very powerful. It may look like wires and odd things, but you wouldn't be able to tell how much information one patient or a mouth can give about the human body until one begins to record with this instrument. Thank you for making the training experience with the K7 an absolutely amazing experience. You have given me the gift of information to share with people patients and family". - Matthew Navarro, D.A. - Team member of Dr. Thihan Phan, Avondale, AZ
"I learned so much in the past two days and am so thankful I had the opportunity to be here. Dr. Chan did an awesome job with the course and made it really fun to learn about and had a good knowledge of what he was talking about. Everything was really hands on which I really enjoyed. I'm a hands on learner so it was perfect for my learning style. I thought the facility was great and is really nice. It made me feel comfortable and didn't make me feel like I was in school. I really enjoyed being there. Dr. and Mrs. Chan did awesome and I am leaving with tons of knowledge. A K7 Testimonial:
"I was one of the students in Dr. Chan's very first OC level 1 that was presented in Joe's reception area. Over the years I took all the levels ( except Ortho) sequentially and the only one that was left was level V. Somehow, I tried to post pone dealing with K7 because I was so intimidated by seeing all those scans and graphs to a point that whenever I saw any scan on the forum or in the courses I let it pass over my head thinking that I would never get it. During these past years I attempted to treat some cases using J5 and I must admit I got very frustrated as the result were not satisfactory, Not because of the principal, but because of the lack of true understanding on my part. The fact that I was not being able to help my patients and not being able to deliver the best treatment made me very discouraged and pulled me more away from GnathoNeuroMuscular (GNM). But I did not give up and decided that I was going to purchase the K7. That way, I would have no excuses. I claim that I did everything that I could do and took all the courses that were offered but it did not work for me and now I am going back to my old way of treating Patients.
